This course is designed for students in allied health programs. It includes preparing stained smears, culturing micro-organisms, conducting toxicity experiments, performing tests to identify bacteria and fungi, and studying microbial growth control methods.

A survey of the biology of microorganisms with an emphasis on bacteria. Topics include prokaryotic diversity, bacterial cell structure and metabolism, microbial growth and reproduction, microbial pathology, introductory virology and immunology, molecular microbiology and diagnostic techniques and translational microbiology.
